Exploring Artistic Inspiration at Rue de Bullion: A Watercolor Journey
On August 25th, I spent a dedicated day capturing the vibrant atmosphere of Rue de Bullion through watercolor. Sitting in the pedestrian square across from Els’s restaurant, I completed this piece from start to finish, immersing myself in the local scene and letting creativity flow freely.
During my painting session, an influencer approached, took photos and videos of my work for approximately 30 minutes. However, despite their efforts, I was not credited or tagged, which I found disappointing. Respecting fellow artists’ and creators’ work is essential, and I encourage everyone to acknowledge the efforts of those who share their craft publicly.
Public art sessions often attract curious onlookers, and I find it rewarding when people stop to observe. While I am comfortable managing attention and redirecting conversations that become too distracting, there are moments when interactions can feel overwhelming, especially on personal days dedicated to creative pursuits. For instance, being asked to pose or participate in promotional activities—without prior notice—can detract from the immersive experience I seek during these moments.
The day was truly beautiful, with temperatures around 25°C, adding to the inspiring ambiance. I treated myself to a coffee from Oh My Deer Cafe, which complemented the creative environment perfectly.
This experience reaffirmed the importance of setting boundaries and maintaining a respectful space for artistic expression. Whether capturing a scene outdoors or engaging with the community, preserving the integrity of one’s creative process is paramount.
