Experiencing Vancouver from End to End: A Personal Journey Along the City Limits
At the close of June, I embarked on an ambitious adventure: walking the entire perimeter of Vancouver’s city limits on foot. This idea had been on my mind for some time, and with the longer daylight hours, I finally decided to bring it to life.
Building on the enthusiasm I received last year for my Grouse Grind trek from my residence and back, I sought a new challenge that would take me to the edges of the city. The goal was to navigate as close to the border as possible, experiencing Vancouver from a fresh perspective.
The day was notably warm, but manageable, providing a suitable backdrop for such an extensive walk. Starting at Wall Street, I made my way around the city, with Stanley Park serving as the symbolic boundary for much of the journey. Traversing through neighborhoods like Gastown added a layer of cultural interest, making the route engaging and varied.
While the experience was unique, I must admit that it was physically demanding and, frankly, a one-time undertaking. Walking the entire length of Boundary Road is not something I would recommend casually; it’s an adventure best approached with preparation and awareness of the challenges involved.
Despite the strenuous nature of the walk, it offered a rewarding perspective on Vancouver’s diverse landscapes and neighborhoods. Reflecting on this experience, I can confidently say that it provided a memorable, if intense, exploration of the city’s limits—an adventure that’s unlikely to be repeated anytime soon.
