Please help me find those of you who saved my mother’s life.

Celebrating Heroic Acts: A Heartfelt Thanks for Saving My Mother’s Life in Montreal

Recently, I embarked on a new chapter by relocating to Montreal from Victoria, British Columbia. While the transition has presented its challenges, I’ve come to love this vibrant city and the community within it.

During this time, my mother came to visit me, and on the morning of September 22nd, an unexpected medical emergency occurred. She collapsed in the Old Port area due to severe heart failure. In that critical moment, the swift and selfless actions of strangers around her played a pivotal role in her survival.

Thanks to the quick thinking of several individuals:

  • One person began performing CPR before she even hit the ground.
  • Another immediately called 911.
  • Two others sprinted to retrieve her medical records and belongings from her car.

Because of their prompt and courageous response, she received advanced medical care within 20 minutes at the CHUM hospital. She is now in a hospital bed, receiving the best treatment I’ve ever seen, and importantly, she survived without brain damage.

While her recovery will be a long and uncertain process, it is only possible because of the incredible acts of those who helped.

Unfortunately, in the chaos, we did not catch the names of those involved. I wish I could personally thank each of you for your instant, selfless actions that saved her life. Your bravery and compassion are nothing short of heroic and exemplify the caring spirit of Montreal.

If you or anyone you know was involved in the emergency response at Bonsecours and Champ de Mars around 10:40 a.m. on September 22nd, please reach out to me. You are heroes, and I am deeply grateful for your intervention.

To the community and city that foster such extraordinary kindness—thank you for embodying the best of humanity.
